Job summary

BL Companies is seeking a Survey Technician to join our land surveying team in Ohio. This entry-to-mid level role offers hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and meaningful projects.

You will assist with survey maps, process field notes, and perform data entry using AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation while learning DTMs and contours. The position supports a collaborative, hybrid work setting within a growing employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree preferred; related coursework or field experience considered
• 0-4 years of land survey experience
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D a plus
• Basic understanding of surveying concepts and terminology
• Willingness to learn MicroStation and Leica Infinity
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to lift 25 pounds

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of survey maps and plans from field data
• Support field crews by processing field notes and sketches
• Perform basic data entry and editing using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
• Help interpret deed descriptions and plot property boundaries under supervision
• Learn to create DTMs and generate contours
• Follow CAD standards and maintain drawing consistency
• Work collaboratively with survey and engineering staff in a team environment
