Job summary

WithersRavenel is seeking a Full-time field surveyor to collect data outdoors using GPS, total stations and data collectors. You will assist with construction, roadway, topographic, and boundary projects, prepare field notes, and support the Survey Party Chief with documentation and safety practices.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance and collaboration with engineers, contractors, and the public, while demonstrating reliability, teamwork, and physical stamina for outdoor work.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0–2 years land surveying experience or coursework is encouraged.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to work outdoors and lift up to 50 pounds when needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check.

Description
  • Operate surveying equipment, including GPS, electronic total stations, and data collectors
  • Collect field survey data and measurements using conventional and GPS methods
  • Assist with surveying for construction, roadway, topographic, and boundary projects
  • Perform construction staking and locate property boundaries, monuments, and control points
  • Prepare field notes and survey documentation
  • Assist the Survey Party Chief with field activities and documentation
  • Maintain survey equipment and assigned field vehicle
  • Follow all company safety practices and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with survey crews, engineers, contractors, and the public

Requirements
  • 0-2 years of land surveying experience; recent graduates and candidates with relevant coursework are encouraged to apply
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • General understanding of land surveying principles and practices
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass an MVR check
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical skills
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of environments and conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks such as walking over uneven terrain, clearing vegetation, and driving stakes
  • Experience reading engineering plans or operating surveying equipment (preferred)
Field Work

The position requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions to complete fieldwork. Candidates must be comfortable with extended periods of travel in a vehicle and possess the physical stamina to perform manual tasks such as lifting, digging, and standing for long durations. The ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds is also required.
