Job summary

WithersRavenel in Cary, NC is seeking a field survey technician to support surveying for construction, roadway, topographic, and boundary projects. You will operate GPS and total stations, collect data, and prepare field notes under the Survey Party Chief.

The role requires 0–2 years of land surveying experience, a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors in varied conditions. Candidates should be reliable, communicative, and safety-conscious.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • General understanding of land surveying principles and practices.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass an MVR check.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical skills.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of environments and conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks such as walking over uneven terrain, clearing vegetation, and driving stakes.
  • Experience reading engineering plans or operating surveying equipment (preferred).

Field Work

The position requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions to complete fieldwork. Candidates must be comfortable with extended periods of travel in a vehicle and possess the physical stamina to perform manual tasks such as lifting, digging, and standing for long durations. The ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds is also required.
