Job summary

LJA Engineering is seeking an Instrument Person to transport and set up surveying instruments, prepare job sites, and support field crews. You’ll work alongside experienced surveyors, perform elevation measurements, and help ensure data accuracy in varying weather and terrain.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED, strong communication skills, and a willingness to perform physical outdoor work as part of a collaborative, employee-owned team at LJA.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients.

Responsibilities

• Transport and set up instruments and equipment for surveying land and preparing the job site for survey.
• Clear brush or trees away from survey line.
• Lays out stakes to prepare for elevation measurements.
• Holding prism pole steady to help determine elevations of points.
• Measures how far different points are from each other horizontally.
• Help with various surveying equipment.
