Job summary

LVI Associates seeks an experienced Senior Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations across residential, commercial, municipal, institutional, and infrastructure projects in Massachusetts and New England. You will supervise crews, utilize advanced survey tech, and collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients on high-profile developments.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of land surveying experience (Crew Chief/Party Chief preferred).
  • Experience with construction layout, boundary, topographic, ALTA, as-built, and utility surveys.
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles and field procedures.
  • Proficiency with robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS, data collectors, and digital levels.
  • Ability to read survey plans, deeds, and legal descriptions.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Lead and perform boundary, topographic, existing conditions, ALTA/NSPS, construction layout, as-built, roadway, utility, and control surveys.
  • Supervise and mentor field staff while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Operate robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, digital levels, data collectors, and other survey technologies.
  • Perform monument recovery, boundary reconnaissance, control establishment, construction staking, and topographic data collection.
  • Review plans, deeds, easements, and construction documents to support field operations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients throughout project lifecycles.
  • Maintain accurate field notes, sketches, photographs, and documentation.
  • Upload, review, and organize field data for project delivery.
  • Manage survey equipment, vehicles, and related resources.
