Job summary

SAM is seeking an experienced land survey crew chief to supervise field operations, plan data collection, and ensure accuracy of surveys for a range of projects. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients while maintaining field records and equipment.

Applicants should have 5+ years in the field, a valid driver’s license, and experience with Trimble tools and GNSS systems. Travel may be required, and the role is on-site in Texas.

Qualifications

• 5+ years industry experience; prior crew chief preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet MVR standards.
• Experience with robotic total stations, GNSS, data radios/modems, 3D laser scanners.
• Experience with Trimble equipment preferred.
• Willingness to travel and stay out of town as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a land survey crew for field data gathering for various surveys.
• Determine efficient data acquisition plan from primary control to construction layout.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and tolerances.
• Communicate daily with project managers, engineers, and technicians about schedules.
• Interact professionally with clients and landowners.
• Anticipate and solve problems within authority.
• Document field notes, sketches, and communications.
• Prepare daily reports and time sheets; maintain field equipment.
