Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking an experienced Land Survey Crew Chief to lead daily field operations for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. You will plan data acquisition, read drawings, and ensure safety and quality on site.

Role requires 5+ years of experience, proficiency with robotic total stations, GNSS, and Trimble equipment, and strong communication skills. Outdoor work year-round and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience; prior crew chief experience preferred.
• Experience operating advanced surveying equipment (robotic total stations, GNSS, 3D scanning, levels).
• Strong math, technical, and computer skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work with project managers and clients.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a land survey crew for daily field operations (boundary, topographic, construction layout).
• Determine efficient data acquisition plans for field surveys from control to as-built surveys.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and project tolerances.
• Communicate with project managers, engineers, and technicians on schedules and progress.
• Interact professionally with clients and landowners; travel as needed.
• Document field data, notes, sketches, and communications clearly.
