Job summary

SAM (Surveying And Mapping, LLC) seeks a seasoned Land Survey Crew Chief to lead daily field operations across boundary, topo, and construction layout projects. You will plan data collection, interpret plans, and coordinate with project managers and engineers on a regular basis.

Travel to project sites is required; you should be able to carry heavy equipment, supervise crew performance, and ensure accurate field notes and reports. Join a safety‑focused team with strong growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience with land surveying and field operations.
• Proficiency operating robotic total stations, GNSS and 3D laser scanners.
• Experience with Trimble equipment preferred and strong math skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a land survey crew for daily field operations (boundary, topo, construction layout).
• Plan efficient data acquisition strategies for field surveys and as-built work.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and project specs.
• Communicate regularly with project managers, engineers, and technicians.
• Interact professionally with clients and landowners; travel to project sites as needed.
• Document field notes, sketches, and reports; prepare daily time sheets and paperwork.
• Maintain surveying equipment and comply with safety procedures; carry up to 80 lbs.
