• Extensive knowledge of all common surveying instruments and techniques and leadership skills are essential to assist with the training and development of lesser experienced members of the team
• Assign tasks and set deadlines for crew members while supervising the daily activities of the crew
• Monitor progress of projects and provide updates to management
• Train new crew members on job duties while adhering to safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the survey crew

• Ability to perform physical work and lift and carry heavy equipment when necessary
• Set up and calibrate surveying instruments, ensuring their proper functioning and accuracy throughout the surveying process
• Operate and adjust total stations, levels, GPS equipment, and data collectors to gather precise data points and measurements
• Aid in the establishment of survey control points, benchmarks, and reference points, ensuring the alignment and positioning accuracy required for accurate surveys
• Help maintain inventory of surveying equipment by cleaning, calibrating, and performing basic repairs when necessary
• Record field notes, measurements, and data collected during surveys for documentation and analysis
• Perform boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, powerline, and construction surveys
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to extreme outdoor elements and dust
• Must possess a High School diploma and 3 years of experience as a Survey Party Chief
• Must have a current driver's license and a clean driving record
• Must be willing to travel overnight as needed (rare, but possible)
• Strong mathematical skills including geometry, trigonometry, and math calculations
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Experience with GPS systems
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Knowledge of drafting techniques and building processes
