Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber in Houston, TX is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead field surveying tasks, perform topographic mapping, boundary work, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and subdivisions. You will operate robotic total stations and Trimble GPS, read plans, and collect data onsite.

The role requires 3+ years of surveying experience, strong attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team. Hybrid schedules and comprehensive benefits are available.

Working with our Survey team, you will perform a variety of surveying tasks, including topographic mapping, construction staking, boundary/control surveying, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and subdivisions.

What You'll Do

• operate modern survey equipment, including robotic total stations and Trimble GPS.
• Read and interpret construction plans and specifications to perform construction staking and layout.
• Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, and sketches.
• Conduct property research and collect field data for boundary surveys.
• Process and organize survey data to create boundary, topographic, right-of-way, and as-built surveys
• Report directly to a Senior Professional Land Surveyor.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of related surveying experience.
• Ability to work on construction and project sites while complying with all applicable safety requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, climb, and maneuver outdoors to conduct field surveys; lift and carry survey equipment; and operate a company motor vehicle to travel to work sites. Outdoor work in inclement weather is necessary. Indoor work involves using a computer and other standard office equipment, sitting, standing, and light lifting. Visual acuity is essential.
