Job summary

McKim & Creed, Inc. is seeking a Field Survey Crew Chief to organize and lead field survey crews, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery of field data for Louisiana and the Southeast Region.

The role requires hands-on leadership, extensive experience with surveying and field operations, and proficiency with total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3–10+ years progressive experience in survey field operations with at least 1 year as a survey crew chief.
• Experience with Construction Staking, Topographic and Boundary Surveying for Civil Site Land Development.
• Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, data collectors and GPS equipment).

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the operation of field survey crews working primarily on projects in Louisiana or Southeast Region.
• Organize field work with objectives: quality, safety, budgets, and client service.
• Accurately and efficiently collect field data and locating features, deliver data to the office, and maintain records of work and expenses.
• Requires walking outdoors year-round through all kinds of terrain and in extreme heat and cold.

Job description

OVERVIEW: This person is responsible for the operation of a field survey crew. Organize field work, direct crew members, maintain a safe work environment, protect and maintain the equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collect field data and locating features, deliver data to the office, maintain accurate records of work and expenses. Will work primarily in the Louisiana or Southeast Region.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3-10+ years progressive experience in survey field operations with no less than 1 year as a survey crew chief
• Experienced performing Construction Staking, Topographic and Boundary Surveying for Civil Site Land Development.
• Good technical skills: behavioral traits of process oriented, steady, helpful, analytical, problem solver, likes work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, precise, hates mistakes, likes structure.
• Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, data collectors and GPS equipment).
• Some overnight travel may be required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
