Job summary

McKim & Creed is seeking an experienced field survey crew chief to organize field work, direct crews, ensure safety, and manage equipment and vehicles across Louisiana and the Southeast Region. You will collect field data, locate features, deliver results to the office, and keep accurate records of work and expenses, with travel and outdoor work in all conditions.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3–10+ years field survey operations experience.
• Minimum 1 year as survey crew chief.
• Experience with Construction Staking, Topographic and Boundary Surveying.
• Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, data collectors, GPS).
• Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Willingness for some overnight travel.

Job description

OVERVIEW

This person is responsible for the operation of a field survey crew. Organize field work, direct crew members, maintain a safe work environment, protect and maintain the equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collect field data and locating features, deliver data to the office, maintain accurate records of work and expenses. Will work primarily in the Louisiana or Southeast Region.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3-10+ years progressive experience in survey field operations with no less than 1 year as a survey crew chief
• Experienced performing Construction Staking, Topographic and Boundary Surveying for Civil Site Land Development.
• Good technical skills: behavioral traits of process oriented, steady, helpful, analytical, problem solver, likes work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, precise, hates mistakes, likes structure.
• Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, data collectors and GPS equipment).
• Some overnight travel may be required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.

• Be responsible for the operation of field survey crews working primarily on projects in Louisiana or Southeast Region).

• Requires a lot of walking outside year-round through all kinds of terrain and in extreme heat and cold.
