BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tacoma, WA is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Team. You will provide nursing care, assist DVM with estimates, diagnostics, ICU care, and post-operative communications.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of veterinary hospital experience.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients per hospital standards.
• Place peripheral IV catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs.
• Set up intravenous fluids and administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Scrub in for surgeries with boarded surgeons.
• Clean and sterilize operating rooms and instruments.
• Prepare histories for consults and communicate post-operative updates.
• Work independently while contributing to the surgical team.
