Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Portland, OR is hiring a Surgery Veterinary Assistant to join the team. The role includes nursing care for stable patients, IV catheter placement, and assisting in postoperative care within a dynamic Surgery Department.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Willing to work rotating A/B schedule or Tue-Fri shifts.
• Ability to monitor vitals and support postoperative care.
• Set up and administer IV fluids per protocol.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards.
• Place peripheral IV catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs.
• Set up intravenous fluids and administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Monitor patient response to therapy and alert doctors as needed.
• Communicate with clients post-operatively as required.
