BluePearl Pet Hospital in Northfield, IL is seeking an exceptional Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Department. The role involves providing nursing care to stable patients, setting up and monitoring IV fluids, and supporting the surgical team in a fast-paced environment.

Preference is given to candidates with at least two years of veterinary hospital experience. A rotating on-call schedule is required after training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a larger team.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheters (IV) as needed.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vitals (heart rate, pulse, temperature, mucous membranes).
• Alert supervising doctor when abnormal findings are observed; assist with fluid therapy setups and administration.
