Job summary

West Main Animal Hospital in Medford, OR, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant focused on surgical and procedural support. You will work with veterinarians and the tech team to prepare patients, assist with anesthesia and surgery, and maintain a clean, organized surgical environment while delivering attentive care.

This full-time role offers a 4/10 schedule, $20-$24 per hour, and a benefits package including health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401k, and PTO.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Previous experience supporting surgical or anesthetic cases.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
• Ability to safely restrain and handle dogs and cats.
• Familiarity with surgical preparation, instrument handling, and maintaining a clean surgical environment.
• Experience assisting with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery.
• Experience with dental procedures and dental radiography is a plus.
• Familiarity with venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical and procedure areas, including equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Support veterinarians and technicians during surgical, dental, and other procedures.
• Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and patient recovery under the direction of the veterinary team.
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment while keeping treatment areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Maintain stocked treatment and surgical areas while working collaboratively with the veterinary and client service teams.
