West Main Animal Hospital in Medford, OR, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant with a strong focus on supporting surgical and procedural cases. You will work with veterinarians and technicians to prepare patients, assist in anesthesia and surgery, and maintain a clean, safe surgical environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a commitment to high-quality patient care, with a 4/10 schedule (Mon-Thu) and a pay range of $20–$24 per hour.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Experience supporting surgical or anesthetic cases.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
• Ability to safely restrain and handle dogs and cats.
• Familiarity with surgical preparation, instrument handling, and maintaining a clean surgical environment.
• Experience assisting with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery.
• Experience with dental procedures and dental radiography is a plus.
• Familiarity with venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical and procedure areas, including equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Support veterinarians and technicians during surgical, dental, and other procedures.
• Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and patient recovery under the direction of the veterinary team.
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment while keeping treatment areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Maintain stocked treatment and surgical areas while working collaboratively with the veterinary and client service teams.
