Job summary

West Main Animal Hospital in Medford, OR, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant focused on surgical and procedural support. You will work with veterinarians and the tech team to prepare patients, assist with anesthesia and surgery, and maintain a clean, organized surgical environment while delivering attentive care.

This full-time role offers a 4/10 schedule, $20-$24 per hour, and a benefits package including health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401k, and PTO.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of veterinary assistant experience preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting surgical or anesthetic cases.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
  • Ability to safely restrain and handle dogs and cats.
  • Familiarity with surgical preparation, instrument handling, and maintaining a clean surgical environment.
  • Experience assisting with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery.
  • Experience with dental procedures and dental radiography is a plus.
  • Familiarity with venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection.

Job description

West Main Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team with a special focus on supporting our surgical and procedural cases. This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant who enjoys working in surgery, wants to build their technical skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative general practice environment.

You’ll work closely with our veterinarians and technician team to prepare patients for procedures, support anesthesia and surgery, maintain a clean and organized surgical environment, and provide attentive patient care throughout the day. In this position, you will take an active role in:
  • Prepare surgical and procedure areas, including equipment, instruments, and supplies
  • Support veterinarians and technicians during surgical, dental, and other procedures
  • Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and patient recovery under the direction of the veterinary team

Schedule and compensation:
  • Compensation: $20 - $24 per hour
  • This is a full-time position with a 4/10 schedule.Availability is needed Monday through Thursday.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
  • 3+ years of veterinary assistant experience preferred
