Job summary

Premier Veterinary Group - Chicago, IL is seeking a Veterinary Technician specializing in surgery and anesthesia to join our emergency and specialty team. You will assist with anesthesia protocols, monitoring patients, coordinating with surgeons, and guiding clients from intake through discharge.

Qualifications

• CVT, LVT, or RVT credentialing is required (state credential).
• At least two years of veterinary anesthesia experience.
• Knowledge of anesthetic protocols, monitoring, pain management, and recovery.
• Experience with ASA classifications 3-5 preferred.
• Strong documentation of patient status and treatments.
• Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and run patient appointments for the Surgery department.
• Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during consultations, admissions, and discharges.
• Prepare anesthetic protocols and administer medications, fluids, and CRIs.
• Induce, maintain, and monitor anesthesia for soft tissue, orthopedic, and advanced procedures.
• Assess patient status before, during, and after anesthesia and respond to changes.
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure availability of instruments and supplies.
• Document anesthesia records accurately and maintain equipment.
