Job summary

SMG System Medical Group in Oakland, Maryland seeks an Advanced Practice Professional with expertise in urology to provide comprehensive inpatient and ambulatory care. The APP performs rounds, pre-procedure evaluations, and peri-operative management, including first assisting in the operative suite when needed.

The role emphasizes education for residents and students, coordination of post-discharge care, and ongoing patient/family teaching within established clinical guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Licensure; or eligibility for licensure, as a professional RN and APRN in WV.
• RNFA certification for First Assists per department.
• BLS Certification with ALS as required.

Responsibilities

• Manages comprehensive, individualized care for surgical urology patients in inpatient and ambulatory settings.
• Performs daily rounds and pre-procedure evaluations.
• Assists in operative suite as 1st assistant where applicable.
• Coordinates peri-operative care and discharge planning.
• Documents plan of care and outcomes in the medical record.
• Promotes teaching and learning for patients, families, and staff.
