Job summary

Germanna Community College seeks a dual-role Surgical Technology Program Director and Faculty Instructor to lead didactic, lab, simulation, and clinical instruction. The incumbent will drive program accreditation, assessment, and outcomes while overseeing adjunct faculty and recruitment efforts across multiple Germanna campuses as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current CST certification through NBSTSA or equivalent as required by accreditation standards.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in the teaching field with demonstrated competency in teaching.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a surgical technologist in an operating room scrub role.
• Must meet all current qualifications required of a Surgical Technology Program Director as defined by applicable programmatic accreditation standards.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated teaching ability or educational experience.
• Ability to satisfy clinical agency requirements, including background checks, drug screening, immunizations, and other onboarding requirements.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate student success in higher education.
• Experience using instructional technology and learning management systems.
• Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, clinical partners, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Teach didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical courses in various formats (day/evening/weekend/hybrid/online).
• Provide leadership for program accreditation and compliance with ARC/CAAHEP requirements.
• Oversee adjunct faculty, curriculum development, and assessment; ensure consistency of instruction and outcomes.
• Coordinate scheduling, program improvement initiatives, and student credentialing outcomes.
• Support student recruitment, retention, and success; maintain records of attendance and progress.
• Collaborate with clinical affiliates to secure and maintain student clinical sites and ensure eligibility.
