Job Requirements

Position Summary: To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by performing a variety of technical activities related to patient care, as well as support activities in the operating room under the direction of an R.N.

Primary Accountabilities

1. Quality/No Harm: Perform duties in the operating room including preparing rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment; creating and maintaining sterile fields; handling and caring for instruments; checking equipment functionality; assisting with precepting new personnel; recording data; attending in-services; cooperating with nursing staff; anticipating surgeon needs; performing duties per established procedures.
2. Customer Experience: Support Health First's people-centered care philosophy; participate in action plans to meet goals; maintain a positive image; contribute to patient satisfaction and positive feedback.
3. Stewardship: Ensure timely turnover; assist with cleaning and organizing supplies; prepare supplies efficiently and cost-effectively based on patient and surgeon needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program (Military, Community College, or accredited school)
• Certification preferred
• Three to five years of experience preferred
• Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Card required
• Reliable transportation required
• Must be able to float between all 4 Health First Surgical Facilities: Cape Canaveral Hospital, Holmes Regional Medical Center, Viera Hospital, Palm Bay Hospital

Physical and Mental Demands

Exposure to biohazards, substances, and diseases; vision and hearing within normal range; ability to sit and stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 40 pounds; work under stress; follow instructions; interact effectively with staff and patients.
