Summary of Job Duties: Schedule: Full Time

Available Shifts: Days-Nights-Alternating Weekends/Holidays-Occasional Weekends

This posting will be used to fill multiple positions

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs patient care tasks and duties which do not require a license. The PCT is a trained member of the unit based team who supports the ongoing delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary patient management team in Float Pool.

Float Pool: Medical/Surgical and Critical Care. These units have no physical boundaries but maintain the integrity of each specialized team. FP techs have the opportunity to work across all medical/surgical and critical care areas.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. to waist height
  • 1 year of patient care experience in an acute care setting

Preferred:

  • Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman

Responsibilities:

The PCT works under the supervision of R.N.s, performing tasks that do not require a license, professional judgment or intervention. The PCT must pass required competencies and adhere to UAMS standards, policies, procedures, and guest care guidelines.

  • Obtain patient report and communicate with R.N. about patient care/changes
  • Assist with admission, transfer, discharge
  • Transport patients within the hospital
  • Follow the Plan of Care for Patients as delegated
  • Communicate effectively with team members
  • Follow directions from R.N.s and team members
  • Provide grooming, hygiene, and assistance with activities
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and timely
  • Assist patients and visitors with information and solutions
  • Support department members in their duties
  • Notify staff of problems requiring intervention
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Information:

Employees must be fitted for, capable of donning, and performing routine tasks in PPE including N95 masks, PAPR, or CAPR.

Physical Requirements:

  • Constant Physical Activity: Hear, Read, Concentrate, Think Analytically
  • Frequent Physical Activity: Stand, Walk, Talk, Use hands
  • Occasional Physical Activity: Sit, Bend, crawl, reach overhead, etc.
  • Lift/Carry Weight: 100 Lbs. or more
  • Push/Pull Weight: 100 Lbs. or more
  • Inside medical facility, moderate noise level
  • Visual Requirements: Near and Far Visual Acuity, Color Discrimination, Depth Perception, Peripheral Vision
  • Hazards include biological, chemical, electrical, radiation, sharp objects/tools, dust

Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience
