Job summary

Northern Ohio Surgery Center in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Surgical Technologist (PRN) to join our operating room team. The role involves preparing and maintaining surgical equipment, assisting with patient preparation, and supporting surgeons and nurses during procedures.

The ideal candidate has completed an accredited surgical tech program, CPR certification, and up to 2 years of clinical experience. Certification is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Certification preferred but not required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical tech program; or Armed Forces training; or is completing duties related to their employment by the federal government; or has equivalent training or experience.
• Must be certified to perform CPR.
• 0-2 years of clinical experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assist in preparing the operating room by setting up instruments, sterile drapes, and solutions.
• Tends to patient during pre-operation procedures and ensures sterility.
• Performs pre-operation skin preparation and equipment checks.
• Assembles sterile and non-sterile equipment and verifies operation readiness.
• Prepares patients for surgery and transfers to the operating room; assists with positioning and draping.
• Monitors vital signs, reviews charts, and assists with gowning and gloving.
• Passes instruments to surgeons and assists with specimen handling and counts.
• Operates sterilizers, lights, suction, and diagnostic equipment as needed.
• After surgery, returns patients to recovery and restocks the OR.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
