Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc. is seeking a surgical technologist to assist in operating room procedures under the supervision of surgeons and circulating staff. You will help prepare instruments, maintain sterile fields, and support the surgical team during operations.

The ideal candidate will have completed an accredited surgical technologist program, hold BLS and CPR certifications, and prefer 1–2 years of OR experience (0–2 years acceptable). Benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program (or equivalent military/training).
• Prefer 1–2 years of OR experience; 0–2 years acceptable.
• Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Must be CPR certified; related to clinical experience 0–2 years.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain medical equipment and instrumentation for surgical procedures.
• Prepare the operating room by setting up the sterile field, including surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
• Follow state and federal facility regulations when attending to patients.
• Perform pre-procedure preparations to the patients skin and body.
• Perform safety checks prior to the start of procedures on appropriate equipment and supplies.
• Assemble sterile and non-sterile equipment and verify it is functioning properly.
• Assist with patient procedure prep as needed.
• Transport patients to the procedure room and assist with positioning on the procedure table.
• Drape the patient with surgical drapes per procedure requirements.
• Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and assistants.
• Retract, cut sutures, and perform other functions under the physician's supervision.
• Participate in the count of sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments based on the procedure type.
• Prepare specimens and assist with disposition of specimens.
• Assist with patient transfer after the procedure and clean/restock the procedure room.
• Pull supplies and instruments for upcoming procedures and assist with inventory management and physician preference cards.
• Assist with decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and quality testing related to sterilization and high-level disinfection.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
