Job summary

Antelope Valley Medical Center is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will maintain sterile technique, prepare the field, pass instruments, and assist with patient positioning and turnover under surgeon and nurse supervision.

Requirements include completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program or substantial acute-care experience, with certification preferred. Night/weekend call may be required according to department needs.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program or 15 years of acute-care experience.
• Surgical Technologist certification is highly preferred.
• One year of hospital or surgery center experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room and environment prior to patient care.
• Ensures instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready for the case.
• Consults the surgeon's preference card and notifies the circulating nurse of irregularities.
• Maintains sterility of the field and reports any breaks in sterility.
• Follows hand scrub, gowning, gloving, and draping procedures.
• Passes instruments and anticipates the surgeon's needs during procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique for all equipment and field materials.
• Assists with room turnover and transports patients as needed.
