Job summary

Mercyhealth Wisconsin and Illinois is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. The role involves preparing sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies before, during, and after procedures, while maintaining a safe sterile environment.

You will assist the surgeon, anticipate needs, and help position patients, manage instruments, and prepare the OR for each procedure. 40-hours weekly, day shifts, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a CAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program required or program currently participating in accreditation process.
• LPN grandfathered (3) at Rockford campus.
• Less than 1 year experience as a Surgical Scrub technologist.

Responsibilities

• Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment during the surgical procedure and ensures sterile field.
• Assists the surgical team before, during, and after surgery in preparing and handling equipment.
• Checks instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, gloves, and sets up sterile table with instruments, equipment, medications, solutions.
• Assists with patient placement and positioning; assists in draping sterile field.
• Performs counts for sponges, needles, and instruments with circulator.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants; maintains sterile field and technique.
• Passes instruments to surgeon; may assist with suturing, dressings, and specimen handling.
• Assists with cleaning the OR and prepping for the next patient.
• Participates in department performance improvement activities.

Education

High school diploma or GED

CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program

LPN grandfathered (Rockford campus)

Less than 1 year experience as Surgical Scrub technologist
