Job summary

Halifax Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to support surgical teams under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role focuses on aseptic technique, instrument handling, and ensuring patient safety across newborn to geriatric ages.

Ideal candidates will have NBSTSA certification, completion of an accredited program, and a high school diploma or GED. One year of prior experience is preferred, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and safety in the operating room.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Graduated from an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• One year of previous experience preferred.
• Good manual dexterity required.
• Maintains a safe physical environment and adheres to policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical procedures under RN supervision and with the Circulating Nurse.
• Prepare and organize operating room and supplies for cases.
• Ensure aseptic technique and instrument counts before, during, and after procedures.
