Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for Winchester Hospital, a 223-bed regional facility. This 36-hour/week, day-shift role includes weekend and holiday rotations, supporting the Labor & Delivery team under RN supervision.

Responsibilities cover instrument handling, aseptic technique, patient positioning, and teamwork for successful procedures. Required: graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military training.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or US Armed Forces Surgical Technologists training.
• Experience as a Surgical Technologist in OR preferred: at least 1 year.
• Ability to assist in surgical procedures and maintain sterile technique.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves and reviews case cart to ensure supplies and equipment are available and sterile.
• Opens sterile supplies using aseptic technique for procedures.
• Scrubs for cases and assists surgeons with gowning and gloving.
• Prepares and maintains a sterile surgical field.
• Assembles equipment and instrumentation based on procedure.
• Assists in procedures, anticipating needs of patient and team.
• Disassembles sterile field and instrumentation after cases.
• Performs accurate counting procedures to promote patient safety.
• Transfers patients to and from stretchers and beds.
• Positions patient and retracts tissue as directed.
• Follows chain of command and hospital policies.
• Communicates effectively with healthcare team and uses handoffs.
