Job summary

Virtua in Mount Holly, NJ seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the Operating Room and Ambulatory Surgery departments. Under RN or physician supervision, you handle instruments, supplies and equipment and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures.

Requirements include one year OR training or experience, graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program, BLS, and NJ CE compliance. Full-time positions include a $2,000 sign-on bonus; part-time offers $1,000.

Qualifications

• One year OR training or experience.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program.
• BLS certification; Surgical Technologist Certification preferred; NJ CE compliance (15 CE per year).

Responsibilities

• Scrubs for, prepares, sets up and assists during surgical procedures and supports nursing/other departments by transporting patients as needed.
• Prepares instruments and supplies for procedures; ensures availability of needed equipment and maintains sterile field.
• Collects and handles specimens according to policy and procedures.

Minimum of 1 year of OR Experience

The Position will float between Mount Holly Operating Room and the Mount Holly Ambulatory - Surgery department (Operating Room) based on the surgical need.

Shifts

• Three, 10-hour shifts per week
• 7a - 5:30pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday

On-Call Requirements

The position will be responsible for 2nd on-call requirements and Holiday on-call for the Mount Holly Operating Room.

Summary

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Physician, the Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.

He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

Position Responsibilities

• Scrubs for, prepares, sets-up and assists during any surgical procedure and provides support to nursing and ancillary departments by transporting and transferring patients to and between units when necessary.
• Prepares instruments and supplies for future procedures.
• Collects and handles specimens according to policy and procedures.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required

One year OR Training or Experience.

Required Education

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

• BLS.
• Surgical Technologist Certification preferred
• Maintenance of New Jersey State required 15 CEs per year.
