Job summary

Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to support aseptic technique, prepare and sterilize instruments, and assist during complex procedures across neurosurgery, spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, orthopedics and robotics. Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or successful completion of military training program for Surgical Technology or Operating Room Specialist.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required.
• Current NBSTSA or NCCT certification required.
• 5 years of total operating room experience in surgical technologist role required.
• 2 years of specialized training in neurosurgery/spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, complex orthopedics, and robotics.
• Meets all ST III qualifications of Surgical Tech Ladder.

Responsibilities

• Assist in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments prior, during and after surgical procedure.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assist RN circulator in preparation of patient, assembly of supplies, instruments, equipment, and proper disposition of all specimens; assist with room turnover.
• Assigned to heightened specialized procedures: neurosurgery and spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, complex orthopedics, and robotics.
• Performs duties according to department policy and procedure.
• Monitors sterile technique and ensures proper use of supplies; documents charges accurately.
• Monitors and documents sterilization activities for completion.
• Participates in in-services and performance improvement activities.
• Assists in policy/Procedure development and serves as a clinical resource.
