Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Madison seeks a Surgical Technician to support Neurosurgery, Orthopedics/Spine, and Ophthalmology cases. You will assist physicians and registered nurses, run the table, and ensure sterile technique while maintaining equipment and upholding safety standards.

The role requires a High School diploma or 10 years' experience in lieu of education, and 6 months of specialty or 2 years of surgical tech experience. BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or 10 years of work experience must be met.
• Six months' experience in surgical specialty or two years' of surgical technician experience.
• Familiarity with sterile technique and infection control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates and plans individualized patient care based on surgical case knowledge.
• Assists surgical cases by running the table and aiding the surgeon on specialty cases.
• Maintains organized work environment and ensures care of specialty equipment.
• Prioritizes effectively and solves problems in high-stress environments.
• Demonstrates expertise in operation of instrumentation and equipment for cases.
• Maintains instrument sets and mentors staff on equipment use and sterilization.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
