Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Madison is seeking an operating room support role to assist with patient care under RN supervision. You will prepare equipment, gather supplies, and assist during procedures while maintaining strict aseptic technique.

The position requires collaboration with healthcare teams, strong communication, and the ability to maintain organization in a busy surgical suite. Shifts include varied start times and call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience or Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
• Prior operating room experience or graduation from an approved surgical technician program or nursing education equivalency

Responsibilities

• Practices and implements the technical components of patient care under the supervision of a RN.
• Collaborates with the RN and other healthcare professionals to implement a plan of care.
• Prepares equipment, supplies and resources based on an individualized plan of care.
• Communicates accurate and timely information to the RN regarding patients.
• Demonstrates knowledge to operate surgical equipment and instruments with aseptic technique.
• Follows lab policy to handle and label specimens correctly.
• Documents quality controls according to unit standards.
• Maintains an organized work environment and prioritizes tasks.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
