Position Overview

Provides intraoperative care to patients by functioning as the scrub person assisting the surgical team during an operative procedure.

Minimum Qualifications (Hired Prior to 2/1/2024)

• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse OR
• Completion of a Surgical Technology Program and surgical technologist certification OR
• Completion of summer surgical tech extern program and surgical technologist certification within 90 days of hire

• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire

Experience

• Two years of Surgical Technology experience (preferred: four years for hires on or after 2/1/2024)
• Advanced knowledge in desired specialty (preferred)

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining sterile fields, passing instruments, preparing supplies, sterilization, inventory management, and supporting the surgical team. Other duties may include mentoring staff, participating in education, and ensuring proper documentation.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Prolonged standing and walking
• Lifting up to 40 pounds, pushing carts up to 200 lbs
• Visual, hearing, manual dexterity capabilities
• Ability to wear lead aprons for extended periods

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to articulate clinical rationale
• Independent scrubbing ability for two service lines
