Qualifications

Job description

Position Overview

As an Automation Technician III, you will maintain an automated material handling system. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining continuous system operation by troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and performing preventive maintenance activities.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Maintain all systems and subsystems of the Automated Storage and Retrieval System. Ensure rapid equipment return to serviceability by performing thorough troubleshooting on any non-functioning or faulted system, subsystem, or component. Keep management informed of specific problems and suggested actions, including estimated repair times.
  2. Troubleshoot and replace fieldbus communication components on conveyor systems, including addressing components and diagnostics. Remove and replace mechanical parts such as chains, belting, rollers, drive motors, and realign or replace control system sensors. Reload software parameters for PLC product lines and other components like industrial PCs or server-based controls. Diagnose and replace electronic sensors, including reprogramming and alignment.
  3. Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and adjustments on multi-axis robotic arms and end-of-arm tools. Conduct conveyor maintenance, including preventive maintenance actions on automated conveyor equipment.
  4. Document repairs, preventive maintenance, parts usage, and time by completing work orders in a computerized maintenance management system (Maximo). Ensure equipment cleanup and removal of replaced parts after repairs.
  5. Assist and train other automation team technicians in troubleshooting and repairs, based on experience and training levels.

Skills
  • Knowledge of 480, 277, and 120-volt electrical systems (single and three-phase). Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, network diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Welding experience with stick or MIG is a plus.
  • Ability to perform site inspections, mechanical repairs, and replacements, requiring mobility and physical exertion, including walking, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, and carrying tools and parts.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs: Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently following procedures and manuals.
Experience Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience or an Associate's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical studies, or equivalent experience in an electro-mechanical field.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics, mechanical diagrams, and parts breakdowns for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Sufficient electrical/mechanical aptitude to replace components of Symbotic Rovers (BOTS) and perform preventive maintenance.
