Job summary

Qualifications

• Current OR experience required.
• Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification within 6 months.
• Demonstrated ability to meet Surgical Technologist II competencies.
• Familiarity with and adept with all types of procedures within their specialty.
• Maintains knowledge of various types of equipment used in the Surgical Center.

Responsibilities

• Specializes in a surgical specialty area, serving as a resource to others and assisting with complex surgical cases.
• Sets up and operates the various types of equipment used during procedures; maintains a specialty cart and ensuring completeness and availability, including sterility checks.
• Precepts Surgical Technologists I and assists in handling situations.
• Provides a clean, safe and efficient area conducive to optimal patient care and aseptic technique.
• Performs gowning, gloving, preparation and draping, instrument passing, and maintaining a sterile field.
• Ensures the environmental disinfection, safety and efficiency of the operating room and moves equipment as needed.
• Adheres to infection control policies and notifies staff of equipment or supply problems.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties with proper technique.
