Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems seeks a Surgical Technologist II to prepare sterile fields and assist the surgical team. You will gather supplies and pass instruments to surgeons while contributing to counts and safety during procedures.

The role also acts as a resource and mentor to newer technologists and may take on-call shifts after orientation, with duties aligned to unit policies and patient care standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months experience as a Surgical Technologist or related scrub tech position.
• Certified or eligible CST/TS-C/CORST certification required.
• Registered by State Board of Medicine and current BLS/HCP certification.

Responsibilities

• Set up sterile field and gather supplies for surgical cases.
• Pass instruments to surgeons during operations.
• Perform count procedures per policy.
• Serve as resource and preceptor to less experienced staff.
• Take call for routine and high acuity cases after orientation.
