Job summary

Maine Medical Center, part of MaineHealth, is seeking a Surgical Technologist II. The role supports surgical teams by ensuring readiness of materials and equipment for procedures, and by participating in teaching staff and students, while maintaining CST I competencies.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program, NBSTSA certification within three months (or as directed), and current BLS or the ability to obtain within 30 days of start date.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology required.
• License/Certifications: NBSTSA certification within three months or per Director's discretion; BLS required or obtained within 30 days.
• Experience: One year of experience; demonstrate competency at CST I level.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all necessary elements are in place for surgical procedures.
• Participate in teaching staff and students and meet CST I criteria.

Summary

The Surgical Technologist II role is responsible for ensuring all necessary elements are in place for surgical procedures. Participates in the teaching of staff and students and meets all criteria for Surgical Technologist I.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology required.
• License/Certifications: Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required within three months of start date or at discretion of Director for positions at MMC. Certification preferred at SMHC. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
• Experience: One year of experience required. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Surgical Technologist I role.
