Job summary

UNC Johnston Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist I to support intraoperative care across multiple service lines within the operating room. Under supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse, you will help ensure sterile technique, proper equipment function, and a safe operative environment for adult and pediatric patients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; military training acceptable.
• 3+ years of prior experience may substitute for formal education.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining sterile technique and prepare operating room equipment.
• Assist during surgical procedures and ensure instrument readiness.
• Label and handle specimens, drugs, and solutions as directed.
• Assist with counts, setup, and planning of instruments and drapes for procedures.
• Support the surgical team and communicate effectively to maximize patient safety.
