UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC seeks a Surgical Technologist I to support safe, sterile, intraoperative care in the OR. The position works under surgeons and RNs to ensure patient safety, proper instrument handling, and adherence to aseptic techniques across multiple service lines.

Requirements include 0-3 years of experience and BLS certification. Education can be through an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing program, with potential substitutions for military training.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; or Graduate of a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology; or Formal education/training may be substituted for individuals with 3+ years of prior experience as a surgical tech
• 0-3 years of professional experience in surgical technology
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification

Responsabilités

• Performs technical skill duties in all operating room specialty service areas following accepted standards
• Maintains, assembles, handles, and sterilizes specialty instrumentation
• Follows aseptic technique and corrects contamination or breaks in aseptic technique
• Performs surgical counts and reports discrepancies
• Labels drugs and solutions and monitors quantities used
• Assists in identification, preparation, handling, and labeling of surgical specimens
• Assists in planning and setup of instruments and drapes for procedures
• Assists the surgeon by understanding patient anatomy and abnormalities impacting surgery
• Assists in selecting cases and planning instrument needs
• Adapts scrubbing procedures as needed and responds to surgical emergencies
