Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist I to join the Operating Room team in Chapel Hill. You will work under a surgeon and RN supervision to ensure safe, sterile environments and effective instrument handling for invasive procedures.

The role emphasizes aseptic technique, instrument prep, case planning, and collaboration with the OR team to maximize patient safety and efficiency in a fast-paced academic facility.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; or equivalent military training in Surgical Technology.
• 3+ years of prior surgical tech experience acceptable.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operating room with sterile technique and instrument handling.
• Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Assist surgeon and OR team during procedures and emergencies.
• Perform surgical counts and label drugs/solutions as needed.
• Prepare instruments, drapes, and supplies for procedures.
• Support pre/post-op patient care under supervision.
