Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Honolulu, HI is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to serve as a scrub for basic and complex procedures. You will prepare instruments, ensure sterile technique, and assist with decontamination and restocking of rooms and equipment.

Under supervision, you will orient and train Surgical Tech IIs and IIIs, monitor instrument counts with the RN, and anticipate surgeons' needs to support safe patient care in the operating room.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Demonstrated adaptability, decision making, customer service, teamwork and detail orientation.
• Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology training program; or equivalent experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA.

Responsibilities

• Scrub for complex procedures and assemble packs, supplies and instruments for cases.
• Prepare operating room and ensure sterile packages integrity and proper expiration dates.
• Count instruments, needles and sponges with RN and maintain counts before closure.
• Assist with decontamination, cleaning and restocking of room and equipment.
• Orient and train Surgical Technologist IIs and IIIs; participate in updating dept. policies.
