Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will assist with gowning, gloving, draping and instrument passing to ensure a sterile field and efficient procedures.

You will work a 40-hour week on a 10-hour DAY shift (0730–1800) with flexible start times based on surgical schedules, rotating days off, and on-call responsibilities within 30 minutes of the hospital.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques for preparing materials and assisting in procedures.
• Knowledge of operating room equipment and instrument handling.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; basic computer use.
• Certification Addendum and ongoing education requirements for hospital certifications.
• Team members maintain annual education requirements for hospital certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide a clean, safe, and efficient operating room; assist in gowning, gloving, draping and passing instruments.
• Assist surgeons by anticipating needs and maintaining a sterile field.
• Prepare room setup and support equipment for each case; transport items as needed.
• Serve as Second Assistant when required and report equipment or supply issues.
• Assist in patient positioning and transfers, observing safety protocols.
