Job summary

MaineHealth is looking for a full-time Surgical Technologist I in Portland, Maine. This day shift position involves preparing the operating room and assisting surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures.

Summary

This is a full time, day shift position.

The Surgical Technologist I role at Maine Medical Center-Portland is involved in preparing the operating room and instruments, equipment and supplies as well as passing instruments, sponges, and sutures to surgeons.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology required.
2. License/Certifications: Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required within six months of start date or at the discretion of leadership for positions at MMC. Certification preferred at SMHC. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
3. Experience: Experience as a Surgical Technologist or a minimum of six months in a scrub role in the academic or clinical setting preferred.
