Job summary

UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs, CO, is seeking a Surgical Technologist to facilitate safe and efficient surgical procedures in the OR.

You will prepare the operating suite, pass instruments, assist with patient positioning, and ensure instrument counts are accurate throughout procedures. A high school diploma, BLS, and Surgical Tech registration are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or Military trained.
• State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
• 6 months Surgical Tech experience or graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech program.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
