Job summary

Pima Medical Institute seeks a dynamic Surgical Technologist Clinical Director to lead the clinical education component of our Seattle campus' CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program. You will bridge classroom learning with hands-on OR experience, building partnerships with Seattle hospitals and mentors future STs for day-one readiness.

Responsibilities include developing clinical networks, scheduling, student guidance, and ensuring regulatory compliance across sites.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in Surgical Technology from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited program (or equivalent military training). Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Practical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years OR scrub experience within the last five (5) years OR three (3) years as an instructor in a surgical technology program.
• Certification: Current CST credential (NCCA-accredited).
• Licensure: Active state license/registration as required to work as a Surgical Technologist in Washington State.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Clinical Network Development & Site Management: Secure new rotation sites and negotiate contracts with local hospitals and centers; maintain all clinical contracts.
• Clinical Scheduling & Orientation: Coordinate student scheduling, site placements, orientation, and learning objectives for each rotation.
• Preceptor Relations: Maintain strong relationships with site instructors and clinical preceptors.
• Academic Guidance: Monitor student progress, competency evaluations and clinical records; intervene as needed.
• Student Retention: Address barriers to maintain 80%+ program class success.
• Site Visits: Regularly observe and document student performance at sites.
• Record Keeping: Grade coursework, maintain records, ensure transcripts accuracy.
• Teaching & Instruction: Prepare lesson plans and deliver instruction in surgical tech methods and labs.
• Curriculum Alignment: Align didactic/clinical education; suggest revisions for OR standards.
• Admissions Support: Assist with evaluating applicants for admission.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety, biohazard protocols, regulatory mandates across all environments.
