Job summary

ExpertHiring is seeking a Program Director for the Surgical Technology program in Chicago, IL. The role leads curriculum, accreditation compliance with CAAHEP/ARC-STSA, and instructor management to ensure high-quality education and student success.

The director will oversee didactic and lab resources, collaborate with clinical sites, and drive continuous program improvement to meet workforce needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nationally programmatically accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current CST certification through an NCCA-accredited agency.
• Minimum five years of relevant operating room and/or teaching experience in Surgical Technology.
• Instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning experience.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire, onboard, and train instructors to teach Surgical Technology courses.
• Manage instructor schedules, teaching assignments, and workloads; assist with course scheduling and logistics.
• Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to instructors on curriculum delivery methods.
• Observe and evaluate instructors and laboratory staff using established tools.
• Ensure adherence to policies and faculty performance standards per the Faculty Handbook.
• Maintain teaching assignments and act as substitute instructor when needed.
• Support SOP and in-service meetings to advance academic initiatives.
• Oversee curriculum alignment with industry standards and accreditation expectations.
• Coordinate program reviews, advisory meetings, and continuous improvement efforts.
