Job summary

Ochsner Health in Metairie, LA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to ensure availability of equipment and supplies for endoscopy and surgical procedures. You will scrub for procedures and assist the RN, while maintaining sterile techniques and patient safety.

The role requires completion of an accredited surgical technologist program (or military equivalent) and BLS certification; certification in surgical technology is preferred. A flexible schedule is expected to cover 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association.
• Preferred: certification in surgical technology.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties.
• Organizes activities and supplies based on surgery schedule and daily needs of the department.
• Cares for and provides services to patients under supervision of the staff nurse.
• Communicates information pertaining to patient care needs to patients, family members and co-workers.
• Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
• Adapts to rapid changes in the department due to census and resource availability.
