Job summary

Ochsner Health in Metairie, LA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to ensure availability of equipment and supplies for endoscopy and surgical procedures, scrubbing for procedures, and assisting with endoscopy procedures. The role supports patient care under RN supervision and requires flexible scheduling.

Education requirements include graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or 5 years of experience, with BLS certification.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program (Online surgical tech programs not accepted) OR 5 years of Surgical Technologist Experience.
Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association.
Preferred - Certification In Surgical Technology.

Responsibilities

Performs direct patient care duties.
Organizes activities and supplies based on surgery schedule and daily needs of the department.
Communicates information pertaining to patient care needs to patients, family members and co-workers.
Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
Adapts to rapid changes in the department caused by unit census, patient acuity and resource availability.
