Job summary

Ochsner Health in Luling is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support endoscopy and surgical procedures. You will scrub, assist the RN, organize supplies, and ensure sterility and patient safety in a busy OR.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or 5 years of experience; BLS certification; willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call. Proficiency with sterile technique and computer systems is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program (Online surgical tech programs not accepted) OR 5 years of Surgical Technologist Experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association is required.
• Preferred certification in surgical technology.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties.
• Organizes activities and supplies based on surgery schedule and daily needs of the department.
• Competently cares for and provides services to patients/customers in specific relations to their age and developmental stage with supervision of the staff nurse.
• Communicates information pertaining to patient care needs to patients, family members and co-workers.
• Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
• Adapts to rapid changes in the department caused by unit census, patient acuity and resource availability.
• Performs other related duties as required.
